Food Trends and Nutrition
I should mention at the beginning, that the subject if nutrition is one that I'm not really well informed about. However, after reading whats required for this blog, I quickly sat my mind on the topic of "Antioxidants and other food and diet trends", as Antioxidants foods is one of the latest food and diet crazes. "Antioxidants protect the body from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals" (healthlinkbc, 2017). which alone is quite an important factor to take into account when choosing foods to incorporate into our diets. However, there is a reason why fruits and vegetables have low levels of antioxidant in them, our bodies require a lot of elements to function properly, and is necessary to consume each of these properties in moderation. Lastly, although vegetables and fruits are crucial for a healthy diet, following every health trend without looking into and researching it thoroughly, and relying on supplements to elevate antioxidant and other vitamins and minerals in the body could lead to harmful results.

Despite all that, not all the outcome from those food trends is bad. As a result to said trends, the subject of nutrition has became increasingly important in the food industry. As most restaurants, magazines, blogs and other culinary outlets, are taking into consideration the publics many food restrictions. Whether be it a religious reason, an allergy or a dietary preference. And it is suspected that it will become essential, to accommodate the surging demand on healthy and sustainable foods.
Lastly, to achieve a well informed opinion on any nutrition or health related topic, we have to rely on credible sources. And there are many, to name one "WHO", on the other hand, "WebMD" is a source that is widely used and yet highly unreliable. We can distinguish between the two by looking at many factors. The first being from where are the website's revenue are, investigations show that WebMD is one of the highest beneficiaries from the medical industry (Julia Belluz, 2016). Secondly, what are the references that are used in the website. In the WHO site, you can see over 6 sources under each and every medical article written, and are all reliable and independent people and establishments. And last, a simple way to till if a web page is most likely credible, is by the URL. Websites don't come for free, someone has to pay for the domain and the workers. For instance, .gov is an indication that this website is a government agency, .org is a nonprofit organizations. however, .com is usually a commercial website.
